Movember 2019
In November Thomas Miller supported MOVEMBER, the leading charity changing the face of men’s health.
Since 2003 Movember has funded more than 1,250 men’s health projects around the world, challenging the status quo, shaking up men’s health research and transforming the way health services reach and support men. Movember exists to help men live happier, healthier, longer lives – this is what drives every single one
of their 1,250 men’s health projects.
Thomas Miller Law’s Howard Quinlivan, lead Thomas Miller’s ‘Mo Bros and Mo Sistas’ across the world. His story is below:
My Motivation: My Father was a fit and healthy sixty-something. He went to the gym three times a week, enjoyed dog walking, cycling and swimming. He was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2016 and had what appeared to be a successful operation. A few weeks later we were told it had spread to his oesophagus and liver. He fought it for another two and half years; we had some great times and he travelled the world.
Sadly he passed away in May 2019 at the age of 71. I miss him, he was a great guy and he also did Movember with me back in 2008 and 2011, knowing how important campaigns such as this are.
The Thomas Miller Movember Team ‘went international’ and included; Howard Quinlivan from our Plymouth office, Henk de Bruin in the London office, Anuj Velankar based in Singapore and Matt Johnston in our San Francisco office.
Both Matthew and Henk are stalwarts of the Movember cause; Henk has raised money on his own account over the last few years and Matthew’s moustachioed fundraising dates back to 2009. Anuj used his stand up comedy skills to raise more funds and also auctioned off a bottle of wine he was awarded that he brought
all the way from Singapore to London – which Peter Jackson bought for the princely sum of £50.00!
Over the course of the month of November the Thomas Miller team obtained overall donations in excess of
£1900 from family, clients and colleagues and also ‘moved’ as part of the campaign in excess of 400km. With the assistance of Thomas Miller the total funds raised including gift aid will exceed £3400!
Howard commented: “I am extremely proud of the team who had not met before we began this challenge. We have had numerous conversations about Movember and men’s health whilst also becoming increasingly
better looking as the moustaches took shape. I hope that we can grow the team next year – I’ve already identified a few potential moustache-growers in the London office, so watch this space!”
Thank you to everyone who supported the Thomas Miller Movember 2019 Campaign.
